This months Featured car is infamous in the Durban Racing Scene. Sam is well respected for his cars performance and friendly racing attitude. Here is what he had to say bout his little BEAST !!!!!

Was always an avid Toyota fan and after much anticipation finally got an 1988 RSi. Bought it about 2 and half years ago. Did the 4agze conversion bout 1.5 years ago. It wasn’t well known then and I was about the first person in Durban to have it done. Car was originally dark grey but sprayed it silver. Interior is still original and seats covered in grey vinyl. Did extensive work on the car :

Gasflow , 268 cams , Perfect Power SMT6 chip (Fastcar Performance)
Front mounted intercooler, red powder coating and piping (Alpine developments)
Fitment of motor and regular maintenance (Victor –Toyota Motorsport Durban)
15’ Shadow rims
TRD LSD in std 4age gearbox
168mm oversized crank pulley to pick up supercharger boost to 0.7 bar
Toyota Tazz front bumper and Cressida lip, Induction system, BMC 80mm Cone, and bonnet scoop (Slick Cars Durban)
57mm exhaust system with Cowley 4 into 1 branches (Powerflow) –soon to be changed to 63mm
9 bar turbo fuel pump

The 4agze motor is a gem and can make great power if done correctly. The supercharger is pretty small but does the job. Standard boost is at 0.5 bar but I am boosting at about 0.7 bar. Performance figures are:

151Kw @ 7691 RPM
232 NM @ 4200 RPM

Sorry guys no quarter mile time yet but I suspect it is in the high 13’s bracket. Traction off the line is a big problem, even with the LSD. She brakes into a spin even if u floor it at idle in first.

Sound : MP3 player with 6x9’s ……prefer the sound of my supercharger!
